The Challenge
Before Constructor, Princess Auto faced many challenges with their product discovery system, Endeca.
Optimizations had to be done manually - there was no AI or learning from user behavior to ensure great results by default.
The only real option to improve results was excessive manual merchandising. It was impossible to find time to optimize all their important search queries, so they were forced to only optimize for the key terms that could be reached manually. Many aspects of their on-site experience were being left behind.
The team also experimented with Oracle Commerce Cloud’s built-in search, but found their templates difficult to work with and default search returning subpar results requiring more manual intervention. They needed a platform that provided both a great benchmark to start from as well as a solid technological framework that could optimize their experiences for every user across their entire site, rather than just for a few
key search terms.
The Solution
Where Constructor Comes In
After speaking with Constructor, both teams started working immediately to improve Princess Auto’s product discovery experience.
Constructor and Princess Auto met weekly to discuss potential improvements across search, autosuggest, category browsing and landing pages.
The Results
Princess Auto liked the idea of better product discovery, but wanted to test the system before going live.
fractured search experience and more.
Working closely together, Princess Auto and the Constructor team built a highly effective search function. Once the new system went live, the results were even better than expected.
